Empire chess pieces astonish with their shape and material they are made of. The chessmen were carved in precious padauk wood (Pterocarpus sandalinus) and standard boxwood. This model is not only beautiful but also heavily (triply) weighted which makes the pieces extremely stable on the board. The set is provided with two additional queens.
Each piece is well secured for transport. The pieces made of redwood can be covered with a subtle white substance (kind of resin) which can be easily removed with a soft cloth included to the set.
